This is a great activity for children to learn how animals are grouped into different categories. The objective is to match each animal (pictures) under the correct group name (labels) – vertebrate, invertebrate, mammal, reptile, bird, fish, amphibian, and insect – and match its features (labels) - while cooperatively making decisions and discussing the different possibilities.
Set consists of:
• Introduction - Information Posters: text about the different groups of animals – show on IWB
• Classification Activity : Animal Flashcards, Group Name labels, Feature Labels
• Worksheets: to record from activity
• Answer Posters: to check at the end of the sorting activity as well as worksheets – show on IWB

The Three Little Pigs / Science / Materials
This unit can be used alongside the story of The Three Little Pigs. It provides opportunities for the children to use science to investigate the materials product are made of and link it to their storytelling.
Planning included! Through this small unit, children learn about the materials used in the story of The Three Little Pigs, found out where straw, wood and bricks (clay) come from, how they are used as building materials and their properties.,as well as describe and compare every day objects made of the same materials, and carry out 2 science experiments.
Includes
• Planning - for 5 lessons.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears / DT / Food / Yummy Porridge!
This unit can be used alongside the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. It provides opportunities for the children to use food technology to create a healthy food product suitable for a character and link it to their storytelling.
Planning included! Children investigate the characteristics and properties of different varieties of ingredients to add different flavours to a basic dish – porridge – compare 5 recipes and develop vocabulary to describe the appearance, taste, smell and texture. They learn basic food preparation techniques to design and make a yummy porridge! Includes vocabulary sheet.

A Bingo game that will encourage a lot of discussions as you play :)
There are 3 different boards, each with matching sets of pictures with names, group names (insect, not insect), descriptions.
Playing: Children attempt to match each animal with a picture card; match additional sets of cards, wherever it is an insect or not an insect; and then guess the minibeasts when reading the description cards.
Children can check their answers - answer sheet for each bingo board included.
